100% would recommend this Challenge! Not only is it really motivating, but it also helps you organise your time, and work towards future goals, no matter what they are. Nic is really relatable, and you don’t feel like you’re being judged, or being pushed into the ‘scary zone’. It was really good, and I would highly recommend it.

Melissa S, NSW.

My biggest “gain” has been the online community. Prior to connecting with Raising The Standards, I felt like the odd one out as a standardbred owner and rider. I felt out of place in the equine community. The online Facebook community is the most encouraging and kind that I’ve ever had the pleasure of being a part of.

Shannen G, QLD

Nic’s presentation style is natural, friendly and easy to follow. I that found all of the activities, the worksheets, the diary and the Facebook page made the program very accessible and fun to do. The Challenge has shown me that doing activities even within little time pockets mean that I can have little wins and small achievements that I had never even thought of before!

The Challenge is simple, fun and easily achievable no matter where you and your Standardbred are in your journey. It was great having a short, easily achievable course to work through. Nic has a conversational way of teaching that is thoughtful, insightful and so supportive – it has given me the inspiration to get back in the saddle. The support from the group conversations is amazing – so many ideas, suggestions and encouragement. Can’t wait to see where this takes us!

Karen H, NSW.

I really enjoyed watching Nic’s videos and found them really positive and encouraging. It was helpful to have something to focus on with each activity and helped me bring my own goals in to focus. As I’ve had my horse for a little while, the program showed me the little wins we have already had, which was really encouraging. It also reminded me to remember that my standy is going through a huge learning curve right now and setbacks are ok and we will come through it.

Theresa K, Canada

Nic is so fun to listen to and I looked so forward to each daily challenge. I love that Nic shared her own experiences along with us so I can relate to the activities. I found this so informative, mainly that the work is not just for my horse, but really is about me and my mindset. This Challenge gave me great tools to help me achieve better riding, better horsemanship, and goals that will be attainable. It was so good to have a map to make plans, things to work on, ways to measure success, and little reminders to celebrate little wins.

This program is fantastic! Nic has such a passion and insight into these wonderfully unique horses. I was starting to feel a bit lost before this course, but now have some great ideas and goals to work on!

Jaidee S, QLD

My big take away from this is to really slow down and take a look at how far we have come. Be more aware of the “little wins”. To not be so hard on myself. The Challenge was great; short and easy lessons to follow and it was good for people at different levels

Sandra, Canada

I loved the Challenge! It was so well done and very clear to follow. Each activity was so easy and fun to do.
The Challenge has given me my mojo back and made me stop being so hard on myself!

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

When is the Standardbred Challenge running?

The 10-Day Standardbred Challenge was originally run as a live program across August 2022, but due to popular demand the program is now offered year-round, with enrolments open at any time.

There are 10 individual trainings released across a 10-day period after sign-up, but you will have ongoing access to the content beyond this period.

We recommend you join this program and set yourself a goal to aim to complete the 10 exercises in (from past student feedback, 1 month seems like a great benchmark!)

Who can participate?

The Standardbred Challenge is a groundwork/at-home learning program, suitable for everyone who owns a standardbred; particularly those in the early stages of their partnership with their horse.

The topics were perfect and each built on the previous one and the whole program was full of gains and wins for me and my horse. I feel like I have a whole new way of being with Leroy and the future with him is positive!

Liz C, NZ

This program was so, so helpful as a new standie owner and as someone who hasn’t had a horse in many years. It’s given me a fantastic starting point to build a strong connection.

Amity B, Vic

It’s very helpful to know there’s so many people out there that are having the same problems or fears. This Challenge is great for anyone that needs to know they aren’t alone!

Nancy H, NSW.

This program is excellent for riders who have battled with confidence issues, setbacks, are steadily working towards goals, big dreamers, those getting started with a new standardbred (or new to the breed), or those who are prone to letting excuses get in the way of horse time!

This was an excellently presented and easy-to-follow Challenge. It is so helpful – practically and emotionally – and most of all reassuring. I don’t feel alone with problems I don’t know how to solve any more. This challenge builds confidence.

Sue G, UK

This program is really good!It has helped me to break things down into manageable thoughts and actions and has valuable advice which makes you really think about your horse; little ways of communicating and ways to assess yourself too.

Kirsty S, WA

I loved this challenge! Nic’s presentation is suitable for all levels of experience and you can tell she genuinely cares for horses and wants you to achieve your goals. It’s a great way to bond with your horse whilst learning new things together.

Karen N, NSW

We understand that our horse and human students will be at various stages of their retraining journey, pursuing different interests and disciplines and that some riders are still growing their confidence in the saddle.
As we want the Standardbred Challenge to be inclusive and enjoyed by all, you will not be expected to ride your standardbred as part of this Challenge.

Activities introduced in the Standardbred Challenge will be a blend of two of the three zones of horsemanship: rider education, mindset and planning (which can be done at home) and simple in-hand groundwork activities (which you can do when you visit your horse).

Activities will include a combination of video outlines and PDF downloadable worksheets.

I found the activities to be well explained, relevant and extremely doable. The topics make you think about the things you do with your horse and why you do them. Nic gave good examples and was down-to-earth and easy to watch.

Caroline F, WA

The videos and activities were good fun, nice & easy to fit around a busy work life (& the distance from where my horse is kept). It gave me a bit more organisation & ideas on different exercises that we can work on together!

Ashleigh R, Vic

The challenge was extremely enjoyable and follower a very easy format, as could watch the videos on my phone. I enjoyed each activity as I thought they each were thought-provoking and well-rounded.

Jennifer F, Vic

This was a great experience with bit-size chunks of learning, thinking and doing. I have also really loved following everyone else’s journey and experiencing the love and support in the online community. Having seen what ‘horse people’ can be like this is a perfect environment to feel safe and try something new.

Karma A, NSW

I found the challenge when I was at a bit of a low ebb, I thought I had bitten off more than I could chew with Robbie and I didn’t have what takes to work with him. I now see we just need to keep going, keep building trust and keep establishing a shared language and that there are people out there to ask for advice or help or to show you the way! This Challenge has been the best thing we’ve done so far and I feel like it’s only going to get better from here. I’ve learned so much, gained some much-needed confidence and had fun doing it.

I found this challenge to be very motivating even with just small stuff. The topics were informative and not overwhelming with information. The videos made it easy to do on the go

Keira M, SA

The program is accessible, insightful and encouraging. It provides a tailored program that honours the versatility of the breed, whilst also highlighting the challenges standardbred owners often experience. Highly, highly recommended.
